Cecilia Plavnick, L.M.H.C. is a mental health counselor licensed in the state of Florida. She has a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University.  She treats Adults, Adolescents, and Families. Cecilia has years of experience in working with Adults and Adolescents with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. She also has experience in treating families and providing group therapy.

Cecilia Plavnick is Hispanic. She was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she studied Psychology (Bachelor’s Degree of Psychology - Universidad de Belgrano, December 2006). Cecilia is clinically and personally aware of the difficulties of adapting to a new culture and adjusting to a new lifestyle. She is fluent in both English and Spanish. Cecilia has extensive experience in working with substance abuse clients, including cannabis abuse/dependence, cocaine abuse, alcohol abuse and prescription drug abuse, and in working with clients with co-occurring disorders, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders and adjustment disorders. She also has experience in working with children and adolescents with attention-deficit and disruptive behavior disorders.

Cecilia has many years of experience from working with one of South Florida’s most prominent substance abuse agencies, The Starting Place, Inc. After years of providing individual and group therapy, her hard work and dedication allowed her to progress within the agency to a supervisory role. She was trained and certified as a Functional Family Therapist, initially providing therapy to first-time adolescent offenders and their families using the FFT model for charges related to substance abuse. Cecilia also spent time working as an Outpatient Therapist, treating Adults, Adolescents, and Families with substance abuse and other co-occurring disorders. Cecilia was later promoted to Program Coordinator of the Medicaid Department at TSP, Inc., where her numerous responsibilities included supervising other therapists.
