Delta Psychological Group, LLC was founded in Aventura, Florida in 2008.  Dr. Tanona, Executive Director is a Florida licensed clinical psychologist who conceived of the practice based on years of training and experience in the South Florida area.  
 
Delta Psychologial Group, LLC’s clinical team that includes psychologists, social workers, and mental health therapists draws upon extensive practical and didactic training in cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, systems-oriented, solution-focused and interpersonal therapeutic approaches, and has experience in diagnostic, criminal and civil forensic, academic/school and personality testing.  Our group encompasses a diverse, multilingual and learned group of professionals who strive to provide well-informed, empathetic and confidential services to our clients.

Anthony W. Tanona, Psy.D. Licensed Psychologist, PY 7207

Florida Licensed Psychologist Dr. Anthony W. Tanona
Anthony W. Tanona, Psy.D. is the Executive Director of Delta Psychological Group; serving Aventura, Sunny Isles, and South Florida.  He also serves as the director of Turning Point MHC, LLC.  He is a Licensed Psychologist who specializes in Child Psychology, Adolescent issues, and Psychological Evaluations.  He provides Individual, Family, and Couples Therapy, in addition to Psychological Testing, to children, adolescents, and adults.  Dr. Tanona has significant experience with the treatment of ADHD, depression, anxiety, coping with divorce, oppositional and defiant behaviors, and anger management.  He works to help improve problematic symptoms, enhance interpersonal relationships, and decrease disruptive behaviors and conflict.  Dr. Tanona also completes Psychological Assessments for ADHD, school evaluations, learning disabilities, gifted evaluations, autism, and psychological/emotional concerns.  
Dr. Tanona has extensive clinical experience and has provided Psychotherapy and Psychological Testing to children and adolescents in Dade and Broward schools, hospitals, and treatment centers.  He has been in private practice for over ten years and was previously the Clinical Coordinator of the Residential Intensive Treatment Services (R.I.T.S.) Program at Citrus Health Network in Miami, Florida.  In recognition of his commitment to the community and the field of Psychology, he was awarded the 2010 Early Contributions to Psychology Award from the Florida Psychological Association and the 2002 Young Clinician Award by the Broward County Chapter of the Florida Psychological Association.
Dr. Tanona and has lived and worked in South Florida for 10 years and has taken an active role in the community. He has volunteered in local organizations, including the Plantation Police Department and Covenant House.  Dr. Tanona has served as the Membership Chairman and the Early Career Psychology Representative for the Florida Psychological Association along with being a member of the American Psychological Association.  He was an adjunct professor at Nova Southeastern University and has presented at the National APA Convention and the Statewide FPA Convention.  Dr. Tanona completed his undergraduate education at Michigan State University and earned his doctorate in psychology from Nova Southeastern University.

Jodi Brazlavsky, LCSW is a Licensed Psychotherapist who has served the South Florida community for over 18 years. She graduated from the University of Florida with her BS in Psychology and obtained her Masters in Social Work from Florida International University. Ms. Brazlavsky's work experience is quite diverse and her areas of expertise include crisis intervention, psychotherapeutic services, clinical supervision, healthcare, advocacy, community outreach, cultural diversity, education, program development, and facilitation of support groups.
Ms. Brazlavsky works primarily with children and adults who have suffered brain/spinal cord injuries and neurological impairment. Also, she provides therapy for children and adults who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, family stressors, couples issues, separation, divorce and women's issues.

Briana Lubin, Psy.D. Psychological Resident

Briana Lubin, Psy.D., a Psychological Resident at Delta Psychological Group, is bilingual in Spanish and Hebrew.  She specializes in the evaluation and treatment of children, adolescents, and adults with emotional, behavioral, and health concerns.  She provides individual and family therapy, couples counseling, and group treatment for issues including depression, anxiety, difficulty adjusting to life stressors, difficulty coping with divorce, disruptive behaviors/ADHD, and health-related problems.  In addition, Dr. Lubin conducts psychoeducational testing and psychological assessments for learning disabilities, giftedness, emotional disturbances, and behavioral concerns.
Dr. Lubin has been trained in Brief Strategic Family Therapy (BSFT) through the University of Miami’s Center for Family Studies. She provides family counseling focusing on improving relational problems and decreasing disruptive behaviors in the home. She also offers parent-training and behavior modification courses for parents experiencing difficulty with their child’s behaviors, as well as behavior modification groups for children/adolescents.
Dr. Lubin was also trained in health psychology, behavioral medicine, and biofeedback. She has experience working as a therapist and coordinator for the Biofeedback and Health Psychology Center at Nova Southeastern University’s Psychology Services Center. She provides supportive interventions for individuals coping with a medical condition or chronic pain and works with clients to improve their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors in order to achieve a healthy lifestyle. In addition, Dr. Lubin conducts bariatric psychological evaluations for surgery candidates and offers post-operative psychotherapy and behavioral modification to enhance healthy adjustment after surgery.
 
Dr. Lubin completed her post-doctoral residency at Citrus Health Network in Hialeah. She was the Coordinator of the Children’s Assessment and Emergency Services Department and worked with families in the Outpatient Therapy Department as well.  Dr. Lubin earned her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology, with a minor in health studies, from the University of Florida. Dr. Lubin is a member of the Florida Psychological Association and the American Psychological Association.

Crystal Ortner, Psy.D. Licensed Psychologist, PY 8955

Crystal Ortner, Psy.D., a Licensed Psychologist at Delta Psychological Group, specializes in treating children, adolescents and their families. She completed her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She has specialized training in treating a wide variety of clinical populations including children,  adolescents, and adults who have anxiety, adjustment difficulties, behavioral concerns, a history of abuse, depression, autism spectrum disorders and interpersonal difficulties.
Dr. Ortner has had extensive experience in a variety of treatment settings including the public school system, the hospital setting, shelters and local community mental health centers. She primarily provides play therapy, individual psychotherapy, family therapy, group therapy and conducts psychological and psycho-educational evaluations to assess behavioral issues, academic concerns, giftedness, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and emotional or interpersonal difficulties. She completed her Doctoral Internship at Nova Southeastern University Psychology Services Center-Child and Adolescent Traumatic Stress Program, where she worked with children, adolescents and adults presenting with anxiety, adjustment difficulties and post-traumatic stress reactions. She additionally treated families within the court system due to high family conflict and divorce and conducted court-ordered psychological evaluations. Dr. Ortner has also presented at Continuing Education seminars, the National Association of School Psychologists Conference and the Florida Association of School Psychologists Conference on the utilization of play therapy and the use of expressive therapy approaches when treating child trauma.  She has also assisted in teaching Child Psychotherapy courses at Nova Southeastern University.
Dr. Ortner strongly believes in utilizing a caring and empathetic approach to help each child overcome struggles and meet their potential. Alexis Resnick, Ph.D. Licensed Psychologist

Alexis Resnick, Ph.D., a licensed psychologist in Florida, provides assessment, therapy, and consultation services to children and adolescents with behavioral, academic, developmental, emotional, and social concerns. She has experience working with a range of populations, including ADHD, disruptive behavior disorders, learning disorders, anxiety, selective mutism, depression, pica, and autism spectrum disorders. She has worked in schools, medical centers, and university-based clinics.
Dr. Resnick believes in providing the child, adolescent, and family with the best quality of care and enjoys collaborating with professionals from other disciplines to help provide comprehensive services. She believes in tailoring services to the individual child, adolescent, and family to address presenting concerns. She employs an active, practical, evidence-based approach to treatment. After graduating as valedictorian at the University of Florida, Dr. Resnick received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Nova Southeastern University. Dr. Resnick completed her pre-doctoral internship and post-doctoral fellowship at the Munroe-Meyer Institute (MMI) at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE.
Dr. Resnick has published her research on a homework intervention for children with ADHD. She has presented at various conferences in the field, including the American Psychological Association, Florida Psychological Association, Association for Behavior Analysis International, Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, National Association of School Psychologists, and Florida Association of School Psychologists. In addition, she is an adjunct professor at Broward College, where she teaches general psychology courses to undergraduate students. She has previously assisted in teaching courses on Child and Adolescent Psychopathology, Child and Adolescent Intervention, Interviewing, and Intelligence Assessment. Dr. Resnick has a passion for helping children, adolescents, and families achieve their goals and lead their most successful lives.

Irina Fredericks, PH.D., L.M.H.C. Licensed Mental Health Counselor

Dr. Irina Fredericks is a Florida State Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and an Adjunct Psychology Professor at Florida International University (FIU). She specializes in assessing, diagnosing, and working with ethnically diverse clients who are struggling with a wide range of mental health issues, such as anxiety, phobias, school refusal, and stress management issues.
Dr. Fredericks received her Doctoral Degree in Developmental Psychology from FIU, a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology from Barry University, and a Bachelor Degree in Psychology from Florida Atlantic University. She completed her pre-master's clinical training at Child Provider Specialists of Dan Marino Center, Miami Children’s Hospital, where she received an extensive experience in administering and interpreting the results of a wide range of psychological tests, assessing developmental delays and/or social and emotional challenges in children and adolescents. For her post-master's internship, Dr. Fredericks worked at Child Anxiety and Phobia Program of Florida International University,  where she was trained to provide evidence-based treatment to help children and adolescents with various anxiety and phobia related issues. In addition to her clinical work, she was involved in a NIMH funded clinical research aimed at evaluating the efficacy of child anxiety treatment approaches and mediators of successful treatment outcome. A specific focus of Dr. Fredericks' research was on evaluating the efficacy of psychosocial treatment approaches to help children and adolescents not only to overcome anxiety and phobia issues but also reach maximal growth and potential in their academic performance, peer relationships, and family time.
Drawing upon years of experience in Psychological Assessment and Counseling, graduate and undergraduate Teaching, and Research, Dr. Fredericks is a scientist-practitioner who strongly values using empirically supported treatment techniques. She understands well the key principles involved in conducting cognitive restructuring and behavioral management treatment procedures. Perhaps even more importantly, she knows how to apply these principles in a clinically astute, culturally sensitive manner. Rebecca Amster, PSY.D.  Licensed Psychologist, PY 9224

Dr. Rebecca Amster is a licensed clinical psychologist, providing short-term and long-term psychotherapy to adolescents and adults. She has extensive training in cognitive behavioral, psychodynamic, and interpersonal techniques. She utilizes an integrative approach, tailoring the therapy to the individual needs of each client. Her style is nonjudgmental, empathic, and interactive.
Dr. Amster received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology​ at Yeshiva University New York. Over the past 12 years, she has trained and worked in various outpatient clinic settings with individuals, couples, and families. She has led and co-led various groups (Anxiety, DBT, and Early Recovery). She has worked in college counseling centers in New York, providing individual and group therapy to undergraduate and graduate students. Most recently, Dr. Amster worked as a staff psychologist at Yeshiva University’s College Counseling Center.

Nicole L. Exelbert, M.A. Psychotherapist

Nikki L. Exelbert received a master’s degree in Mind/Body Psychology from Naropa University, where the foundation of her training was in Mindfulness/Awareness meditation. She instructs both students and teachers in mindfulness practices and also works with individuals who want to cultivate a meditation practice and weave mindfulness into their everyday lives. A psychotherapist at the Delta Psychological Group in Aventura, she’s passionate about teaching the art of meditation because of the benefits she’s gained from her own meditation practice over the past 15 years; she loves helping others become more self-aware, centered and awake to life.

Matthew J. Jalazo, Psy.D.  Licensed Psychologist, PY 7803

Forensic Psychologist Dr. Matthew Jalazo
Matthew J. Jalazo, Psy.D. is a licensed psychologist who specializes in forensic psychology.  He offers a variety of forensic psychological assessments for both criminal and civil proceedings.  These include pretrial criminal, sentencing, and death penalty evaluations for state and federal courts, as well as guardianship, workers' compensation, personal injury, and fitness for duty evaluations.  He also provides consultation to attorneys by advising them on mental health issues that may exist in a particular case and reviewing psychological evaluations conducted by other experts.
Dr. Jalazo has significant experience in evaluating clinical and organic conditions (particularly psychotic disorders, mood disorders, posttraumatic stress disorder, personality disorders, traumatic brain injury, and dementia), and how these conditions may impact an individual’s competency, criminal responsibility, and level of risk.  He is particularly experienced in evaluating defendants charged with violent and capital offenses.
Dr. Jalazo also has a unique background in the application of forensic psychology to military populations.  He completed his predoctoral internship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. and served on active duty at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. While at Fort Campbell, he conducted psychological evaluations addressing soldiers’ pretrial competency, mental state at the time of the offense, and fitness for duty.  While deployed to the Middle East, he served as the chairman of an international mental health committee that assessed and selected foreign nationals for various levels of military service.   
Dr. Jalazo earned his master’s degree in forensic psychology at John Jay College of Criminal Justice and his doctoral degree in clinical psychology (with a specialization in forensic psychology) from Nova Southeastern University. He also completed a postdoctoral fellowship in forensic psychology at Dorothea Dix Hospital’s Pretrial Evaluation Center.  He has applied his forensic skills in a variety of settings, including mental health court, outpatient clinics, county jails, inpatient psychiatric facilities and medical centers.  He is currently a member of the American Psychological Association and American Psychology-Law Society.

Avi Rosenberg, Psy.D.

Avi Rosenberg, Psy.D., is a Florida licensed psychologist who works with children, adolescents, and adults with clinical presentations including PTSD, anxiety, behavioral issues, anger management difficulty, depression, suicidal ideation, relationship difficulty, and chronic pain. Dr. Rosenberg is skilled in individual, family, and couple’s therapy. He has specific experience in trauma therapy and has specialized training in EMDR as well as in play therapy. He also conducts psycho-educational evaluations which have a reputation for being exceptionally clear and comprehensive.
Dr. Rosenberg believes that although therapy requires investment and effort by the client, it should also be a positive and even fun experience. He continuously assesses his therapeutic relationship with each client and adjusts his approach to meet the client’s unique needs. He approaches therapy conscientiously yet creatively, and often integrates humor, art, music, and other media into therapy in order to facilitate reaching the client’s therapeutic goals.
Dr. Rosenberg received his doctorate in clinical psychology from Carlos Albizu University and has trained in a variety of clinical settings including the Miami VA, Miami Children's Hospital intensive inpatient Division, and the Barry University Counseling Center. He also received training in comprehensive school-neuropsychological testing while working at Child Provider Specialists. As a post-doctoral resident, Dr. Rosenberg partnered with a local high school to spearhead a program aimed at increasing access to pediatric psychological services within the community.
In addition to his psychological training, Dr. Rosenberg holds a Master’s degree from Ner Israel Rabbinical College in Maryland. This training provided him with the core belief that each person has a unique purpose and in turn will face unique struggles and challenges. This philosophy helps to foster the safe, non-judgmental atmosphere that Dr. Rosenberg believes is essential to the therapeutic relationship.

Thalia Reitkopf, L.M.H.C. is a Licensed Psychotherapist at Delta Psychological Group, serving Aventura, Sunrise, and South Florida. She is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and completed her Master’s in Mental Health Counseling at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Thalia Reitkopf is also a Registered Yoga Teacher (R.Y.T.200) and incorporates principles, such as deep breathing and guided meditations, to enhance sessions, assist with coping strategies, and release stuck patterns. She provides Individual and Couples/Marriage Counseling, and works with adolescent and adult populations. She specializes in tailored master treatment plans for CBT-Y psychotherapy, including mood disturbances, anxiety, fears, self esteem/self worth, stress management, and interpersonal relationships.
Thalia Reitkopf L.M.H.C., R.Y.T. has extensive clinical experience and has provided therapy in Plantation, Sunrise, Ft. Lauderdale, Delray, Boca, Davie, South Miami, North Miami Beach, and currently Aventura. In addition, she has extensive experience in group counseling having run an Asperger’s Social Skills group for children, an Alzheimer’s Group for the elderly, substance abuse groups in Ft. Lauderdale, depression, anxiety, anger management support groups in Flagler, and has given educational lectures or teenagers at Broward and Dade schools.
With the exciting new development of CBT-Y, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy-Yoga, Thalia Reitkopf L.M.H.C., R.Y.T. is specialized in the niche of therapy plus yoga. She is highly skilled in weaving both modalities to sessions, providing enhanced healing for her patients. Through practices such as deep breathing, meditation, exploration of psychological issues, and other Cognitive Behavioral Therapy-Yoga techniques, she is helping patients releasing both stuck psychological and physical issues.
