Dr. Crystal Ortner
Licensed Clinical Psychologist
Crystal Ortner, Psy.D., a Licensed Psychologist at Delta Psychological Group, specializes in treating children, adolescents and their families. She completed her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She has specialized training in treating a wide variety of clinical populations including children, adolescents, and adults who have anxiety, adjustment difficulties, PTSD (posttraumatic stress disorder), behavioral concerns, a history of trauma, depression, autism spectrum disorders and interpersonal difficulties.
Dr. Ortner has had extensive experience in a variety of treatment settings including the public school system, the hospital setting, shelters and local community mental health centers. She primarily provides child therapy, play therapy, individual psychotherapy, family therapy, group therapy and conducts psychological and psycho-educational evaluations to assess behavioral issues, academic concerns, giftedness, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and emotional or interpersonal difficulties. She completed her Doctoral Internship at Nova Southeastern University Psychology Services Center-Child and Adolescent Traumatic Stress Program, where she worked with children, adolescents and adults presenting with anxiety, adjustment difficulties and post-traumatic stress reactions. She additionally treated families within the court system due to high family conflict and divorce and conducted court-ordered psychological evaluations. Dr. Ortner has also presented at Continuing Education seminars, the National Association of School Psychologists Conference and the Florida Association of School Psychologists Conference on the utilization of play therapy and the use of expressive therapy approaches when treating child trauma. She has also assisted in teaching Child Psychotherapy courses at Nova Southeastern University.
Dr. Ortner strongly believes in utilizing a caring and empathetic approach to help each child overcome struggles and meet their potential. Her goal is to improve each individual's ability to lead a productive life while decreasing family stress. Dr. Ortner’s treatment style is creative, collaborative and eclectic, approaching each unique family according to their specific needs and is passionate about helping families find relief and solutions to overcome their struggles.
